Office Location: Constituency Office: 14 South Street, Newtownards. BT23 4JT

Hours:  37 hours per week, Monday - Friday

Holidays:  28 per annum (inclusive of public holidays)

Salary:  £19,750

Pension:  5% Employer’s Pension Contribution to Assembly-approved scheme

Duration:  Fixed Term or until legislation is introduced to change Constituency expense provision



“To carry out the function of providing constituency services and support for Kellie Armstrong MLA - Alliance Party MLA for Strangford, residents of the Strangford Constituency and appropriate stakeholders during the Assembly term 2017-2022’

  • Delivering effective management and processing of constituent casework for Kellie Armstrong MLA

  • Working with constituents directly on individual cases, issues and constituency matters

  • Management and maintenance of office systems, processes and procedures

  • Responsibility for management of office leases, equipment, resources and operational expenses as per NI Assembly Determination rules

  • Responsibility for efficient data and file management to comply with GDPR and data management

  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge relating to constituency work

  • To work with Kellie Armstrong MLA and the staff team to identify opportunities to progress change for the benefit of constituents and a shared future in NI

  • Maintaining and updating MLA website, social media and other communication channels to ensure the work of Kellie Armstrong MLA is appropriately communicated to constituents and relevant stakeholders

  • Planning and organising meetings and provision of secretarial support as required

  • Building relationships with business, community and other groups in the constituency

  • Liaising with groups within the constituency and the general public on behalf of Kellie Armstrong MLA 

  • Responding to correspondence and enquiries from constituents, media, lobbyists, businesses and community groups in conjunction with Kellie Armstrong MLA's requirements

  • Dealing with complex queries and complaints on Member’s behalf, including drafting letters for Member to sign

  • Attending surgeries, tribunals and meetings as appropriate

  • Ensuring all casework is logged; monitoring progress of cases and ensuring all identified actions are taken

  • Ensuring that casework is dealt with sensitively and confidentially

  • Attending work related training and networking meetings to develop skills

  • Other duties as required in support of the MLA carrying out their Assembly duties
